Summit FC wrapped up its 2017-2018 season on June 17 after a sunny and successful weekend of soccer. The U10 – U17 Boys and Girls teams competed at the Green Mountain Challenge in Weston against clubs from across New England and New York. All of our teams were very competitive and represented the club well. SFC won the U17 Boys division for the second consecutive year, finishing first among eight teams while scoring sixteen goals and conceding only two. On the girls’ side, the Summit U15s competed in the U17 division, and emerged with a second-place finish! The U18-19 Boys team travelled to the Tree Farm in Essex Junction to play in the Nordic Cup. Playing in the U17-19 Club division, the Spartans finished first in their bracket, showing excellent skills and tactical precision in winning all of their games and exactly matching the U17s weekend goal differential of 16-2.
Although club-wide competitions have ended for the season, for the second consecutive year Summit will send a group of rising high-school juniors and seniors to the Mad Dog Mania College Showcase in Saratoga, NY June 23-24. This is a great opportunity for those players aspiring to play college soccer to showcase their abilities in front of dozens of coaches from colleges and universities around the Northeast. This is an optional, pay-for-play event, and we were once again happy to see approximately 20 players take advantage of the opportunity. Let’s wish them all good luck in their pursuits!
From the start of training activities last fall through the end of the last game on Sunday, Summit FC continued its ongoing transition to higher levels of skill and competition, and we are proud of all our players and coaches for the time and effort they dedicated to continuous improvement, as individual players and for the club as a whole. The Board of Directors and Coaching staff would like to thank all of our member families for another fun and successful season by hosting an ice cream social at the Hathaway Fields at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 25. Technical and Coaching Director John O’Connor will be presenting the annual Player Development Awards for each team. We hope to see everyone there!
As a reminder, registration for the 2018-2019 season is open for all RETURNING PLAYERS. The deadline to secure a roster spot for returning players is June 30, and families who register by this date will receive a $50-per-player discount on annual club fees. Tryouts will be held in July to fill any remaining roster spots. The new on-line registration process will be more efficient, and the registration schedule is designed to provide us with the information needed to build rosters and schedules for training and competition as early as possible. If you haven’t registered yet, you can do so now by following the link below. Thank you to each and every one of our players and family members!
